Deep Vein Thrombophlebitis

Abstract
Three cases of thrombophlebitis that were successfully treated with anticoagulant therapy and surgical ligation were reported.
Case I was a 21-year-old male who was admitted complaining pain and tenderness of left calf muscles of 3 days duration.
Homans sign was characteristically positive at the time of admission. Immediate heparinization(10, 000 U. IV( was performed followed by Dicumarol administration. After 6 days his objective and subjective fin-dings were completely cleared and discharged.
Case II was a 20-year-old man who was admitted with severe pain and tenderness of the right leg and intermittent fever of 22 days duration. His objective signs were rather marked. After admission heparin and dicumarol administration were begun.
However, the subjective signs were not much relieved. On 27th hospital day bilateral femoral vein ligation was performed. After Ligation the subjective symptoms were definitely relieved and discharged.
Case III was a 24-year-old man who was admitted with pain and tenderness of right calf and thigh of 4 days duration. The oneset was rather sudden and progressively aggravated. After admission immediate heparinization followed by Dicumarol administration was performed. On the 5 th hospital day femoral vein ligation was performed. After ligation the subjective and objective findings were gradually cleared.
